Pop's Celebration

One Year Older and Wiser too, Happy Birthday Grandpa.  My Grandpa turned the big 80.  He is such an amazing, loving, caring, funny man.  I just love my Grandpa.  He has always been there for me and my little family.  We don't know where we would be with out our "Poppa".  He is always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.  He is so good with my kids and just loves them to pieces.  Sawyer loves it when we go to "Poppa and Grandma's".  He even has to dress like Grandpa.  

The weekend of Grandpa's birthday the whole Smith Clan, minus Rowdy, descended on Circleville once again to celebrate.  We decided to head up to City Creek which was about as close to the mountains as we could get.  The day turned out to be pretty cold and windy intermittently, but we had a great time.  We had BBQ pork  ribs, mutton, dutch oven potatoes, and a lot of other delicious foods.  The kids ran around playing in what else but the creek.  We tried to take the kids on a little hike to get the wiggles out but the trail ended up being muddy.  

When we headed back down the mountain we played some Bingo.  The Oswald's took home most of the prizes.  We had two cakes, German Chocolate and Pineapple Cream, with our beloved Caramel Cashew ice cream from Aggie Ice Cream.  We had a great celebration and it was fun getting all together again. 

Simply Saturday

Saturdays, the day of the week we get to spend together as a family, where my house gets cleaned  only for the kids to reorganize everything, one room at a time unless they decide to divide and conquer.

We get to spend the day doing our hobbies and getting a little fresh air.  I love them.  

This particular Saturday Travis wanted to go fishing and I needed to go running to train for my up coming races.  What better end of a run than to find my family at the local fishing hole with a big fish on the line?  I ended up running up the canyon and running a lot farther than I planned but in a good way.   

I love that Jaylee is hanging off of Travis but she is loving it.

Easter In Circleville

Easter weekend we headed down to Circleville for our second celebration. They have the best easter egg hunt there.  The kids are sectioned off by age and they have a lot of candy.  Sawyer was itching to get in there and collect the eggs.  Some of the eggs were soccer balls and footballs.  I do believe they were the first ones he ran for.  Such a boy! 

When they said "GO" Sawyer took off! He again headed out where nobody else was and collected eggs.  He did really good.  I am so excited that he finally got the concept of the Easter Egg Hunt.  He filled his basket pretty quickly.  The eggs were filled with candy this time. The only draw back the eggs were taped shut.  It took awhile to untape them.  I decided I earned about half the candy in the bucket.  Sawyer was not too keen on the idea.  We really need to work on the whole sharing thing. 

We basically closed the easter egg hunt down.  We played on the playground and then played kickball.  I haven't played that game in years.  We had a great time and may have gotten quite a sunburn but we all had fun.  

After the festivities we headed back to the Grandparents to let the children run wild, ahh just like my childhood.  Almost all of my cousins and sisters were there.  We were joined by Travis' mom Katie for the afternoon.  We ate a delicious lunch at Uncle Todd's with the traditional potato salad and ham.  The wind may have dusted all the food but hey we could all use a little more iron in our diet right? 

Travis and his mom went fishing at Otter Creek where they met up with Tammy and her family.  They had a great time catching huge fish.  I stayed with the kids at the Grandparents and let the little rug rats play with their cousins they don't see very often.  We all had a great time.
