Easter Festivities

(This post is a little late but oh well.)
To start out our weekend of Easter Festivities we headed out to the Baby Animal Days at the American Heritage Center here in Cache Valley. I have never been before but I have heard it is a lot of fun for the little ones.  Sawyer loves animals so why pass up the opportunity?
We decided to go on Thursday, opening day when they first opened, thinking that most people would be working and not be able to take their kids at that time.  We grossly underestimated the amount of people who   didn't work and the mothers that are a lot more brave/crazy than myself who took multiple children there by themselves.  It was also Spring Break for the schools in the valley, what were we thinking?  There were a lot of people.  It kind of made me laugh once we saw the animals that were there.  Most of the animals Sawyer has already seen at Grandpas or at our house, thank you for living in a rural area.  It was still fun though.  We held some baby ducks and chicks.  There were way too many people waiting to hold the baby rabbits.  Sawyer hasn't quite mastered how to be really soft.  He was really excited and tried to grab the duck out of my hands, then he tried to pull the leg.  Poor little duck, first strangled, then almost limbless.  The chick he was little more soft.  We also petted a baby pig, a donkey, a turtle, a goat.  When we saw the baby pigs Sawyer petted it then reached down and picked up some straw and said "Hay".  He tried to feed the baby pigs.  We got to see the baby bears from Bear World.  We didn't get to pet them though, bummer.  They were adorable though.  We watched a shoot out in the Old West Village.  Sawyer thought that was amazingly awesome.  The sheriffs rode in on horses and there were guns.  It was fun.  They threw candy at the end for the kids but it was like a fat kid on chocolate cake, chaos.  We rode on the wagon ride with the horses from Hardware Ranch.  It was a little cold but we had a great time even with the hoards of people.

It can't be the American West without Buffalo, but please people "Don't Tease THEM",  that was the warning on the fence.
Look at that face

Ride 'Em Cowboy

Friday was bad weather.  It was snowing and raining.  I just love Spring weather, you never know what to expect but it makes everything so green.
Saturday we hit up the Easter Egg Hunt in North Logan.  I was a little worried Sawyer would not know what to do so Travis had Sawyer practicing all week,  I love my husband.  When Sawyer got up on Saturday the first thing he did was put the bucket on his head, of course.  He was excited though.  I am not sure he knew what he was excited about but we were excited.  We got to the hunt a little early, they told us to get there early because the eggs go early.  The first thing Sawyer did when he got out of the car was again, put the bucket on his head.  He thought he needed it there I guess.  He was pretty excited when he first saw the eggs.  He did pretty well for the first few minutes of then he was over waiting.  He saw a kid with a sucker next to us which completely over took his thoughts, he needed that sucker.  Then with about 20 seconds to start time the bucket got stuck on his head.  The handle fell under his chin which we had been able to get off before but for some reason not this time.  So Travis and I did what any responsible parent would do and hurried and forced the handle off of his chin.  Poor guy, I am sure it didn't feel very good so he started crying.  Needless to say he was not happy about the egg hunt.  We did got to the store afterwards and got a donut and a sucker, that made everything better.
My Mom, Dan and Ashley and her family were coming up to go fishing.  We packed a lunch/dinner and headed out to find a spot to fish.  It was going to be a little difficult because the reservoir was full of water and not many places to fish with children.  Once we got to the res. Travis realized he forgot his fishing poles, really Travis?! I had to laugh.  That was so not like Travis, especially when it comes to fishing.  When I got back everybody had arrived and we found an okay place to fish, it wasn't the most ideal but the kids had a great time, even though we didn't catch anything.
Sunday we woke up and had another little Easter Egg hunt for Sawyer. He was a little more into our hunt because we bribed him with suckers on the floor. He had to pick up the eggs and eat the candy inside of them before moving on. After the gifts we had church.  I love Easter Sunday.  We took a nap after church.  I made oven fried chicken and potato salad.

Big Belly

27 big ones, weeks that is.  I am getting closer to the end and feel so unprepared.  I know most moms feel that way though. That nesting instinct can kick in at anytime- please.  I really wish I would have documented Sawyer's pregnancy better.  It would have been nice to compare pictures.  I feel big but honestly, what pregnant woman doesn't.

The Life of a 22 Month Old

I just wanted to document a few pictures that I have taken of the little Man around our house.  Sometimes he surprises me at the things he does and the things he remembers. He always keeps us on our toes.  This past week Sawyer wasn't feeling very well.  We usually always go for a walk- since running is no longer an option due to the baby sitting on my bladder- in the afternoon and Sawyer usually falls asleep in his very comfortable jogging stroller.  This particular day he was asleep in his stroller but right as I jumped into the shower I heard him crying.  Crap- all wet and have to go rescue the child.  I got him out of his stroller and put him in "HIS" chair so I could go finish my shower.  When I came out of the shower this is how I found the little guy.  He must have been really tired and not feeling well.  He never falls asleep not in his bed or his stroller or someone holding him.  I even had to move him from the chair, he is quite the crazy sleeper, and he didn't wake up.
Sawyer has found that he can unzip his jammers- PJ's.  This particular day he really wanted to go outside.  He even put his shoes on, snowboots the only shoes he can put on without getting frustrated by the tongue of the shoe.  He was at the door trying to get out.

Sawyer was in our room playing while Travis was laying down because he caught whatever Sawyer had.  I was running around putting things away or something like that.  Sawyer got really quiet in the closet.  He usually goes through the dresser that is in there to find all kinds of treasures.  When I peaked in to see what he was doing he had cleared our shoes off the shoe shelves and had decided the shelves make quite a bench.  He was just happy and content to sit there with the door closed, which he closed himself.  He likes his privacy I guess.  Too bad he doesn't care for our privacy.

This little guy is getting so big.  He is so independent which is nice but so frustrating at the same time.  I know every mom goes through this phase but I don't want him to get any bigger.  I love that he depends on me for just about anything.  It makes you feel so loved and appreciated, hahaha. It will be nice when he can do more on his own but for now I want my "baby" to stay my "baby".

Change is the only Constant

I always thought I would be so ecstatic when Travis graduated with his Masters degree, it meant our life was finally going to move forward.  We were going to be grown-ups with new goals and responsibilities- how exciting right?  We could finally settle down in a little (I mean BIG) house with a white picket fence and raise our family- the American dream.   I have always been jealous of all of our friends that have moved on before us and sad that we were being left behind. Now that the time is getting near I don't know if I am ready for this change.  It is coming sooner than I would like but I am glad none the less.  It is about time we start this new and hopefully exciting part of our life, with all that said the big change is WE ARE MOVING TO RICHFIELD, UT in May after graduation.  Travis accepted a job offer from Jones and DeMille Engineering.  I never really thought we would end up in Richfield but  that is where we are headed so they better be ready for us down there.  We don't have a place to live yet, I have to switch doctors in the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy, I have to choose what hospital to deliver at -Richfield or Gunnison, I have to leave my neighbors, leave all my stores and shops,I have to pack a house up pregnant again,  needless to say I have been a little stressed (I blame it on the hormones) On the bright side though we will be a lot closer to family. I am sure we will figure everything out but it is just nerve racking.

A Break In The Spring

Finally, Spring Break and we were headed for warmer weather or so we thought.  We started the week off by having inspections at our housing complex.  We passed but I really wasn't too worried about that, after the people who used to live in our house anything is better, or so I have been told.
Tuesday we headed down to my sister Mariah's to meet my new niece,  Hanna.  She is so tiny and adorable. I forgot how much newborns sleep.  My nephews were so cute about their new baby sister.   Sam, the younger one, kept taking me over and proudly showing me his baby sister.  Sometimes he is fond of her but other times when he wants more attention he tells his mom she can take her back now.  That kid kills me.
On Wednesday morning Travis decided he would brave the cold and go fishing.  Not my thing when the thermometer reads 32 degrees or lower.  Sawyer and I stayed at Mariah's to spend some time there with my Mom and the kiddos.  I dressed Sawyer in his camo shirt and Sam had to go upstairs and get his on too.  The boys and I played "Big Game Hunter" outside forever, well it seemed like it to me.  Don't get me wrong I am glad they use their imagination I just think my is way out of practice.  I love the picture below because Sawyer had to do what Sam was doing in the picture, Sam squatted in the last seconds before the picture was taken. We spent the afternoon down in Minersville.  We headed back up to Beaver for some pretty darn good Mexican food at the KanKun.  It was insanely busy and took forever but it was fun being with family.  On the way out there the boys rode with us.  We were talking with the boys about what we should name the baby.  Travis jokingly suggested we name her "Spencalina" without missing a beat Sam pipes up "That's stupid!".  I love that kid.
Thursday we spend some time at Mariah's in the morning again.  My mom had to leave and she wanted to spend some time with us.  We headed down to Minersville again for the afternoon.  The boys had wrestles down there in the evening. I am not a big fan of wrestling, mainly because it looks like it hurts, but it is fun to watch the boys.  Spencer pinned his guy pretty quickly.  Sam on the other hand just goes in for a big bear hug until the kid falls over.  We headed over to my grandparents after the wrestling match.
Sawyer loves going to Circleville.  Whenever we talk about Grandpa or "Poppa" he says, "Pop Horse".  He knows that at Grandma and Grandpa's he gets to help feed the horses.  In fact the first thing he wanted to do when he got up was go look at the horses.  He grabs a blanket off the back of the couch, brings it to you and repeats, "horse, horse, horse" until somebody gives in to his request which is usually Uncle Todd or Grandpa. He also has to help feed the goats that Grandpa has.  Vanessa came over on Friday.  We love when Aunt Nessa comes to visit.  It has been a long time since we have seen her.  Sawyer was a little leery of her at first. It was kind of funny but sad at the same time.
Saturday was like a hurricane in Circleville.  I don't know where the wind came from but it was brutal.  Vanessa was hoping for a snow storm since she lives in the desert but I was okay with  just wind.  We celebrated St. Patrick's Day by going to the cafe and having corned beef and cabbage.  Well Travis did anyways while I had a delicious burger.  We took a drive later to look for deer with Sawyer.  He thought he was so big driving with us.  We watched a lot of March Madness during the weekend with Vanessa and Grandpa around.  We usually play some kind of card game and this time we played "Pounce" which I originally knew as "Nerts".  I love that game.  So intense.
Sunday we woke up to snow.  Vanessa was happy. I was not so happy because I didn't pack close-toed shoes to wear to church.  What was I thinking?  The snow was melted by the time church was out but it was still pretty cold.  We ate a delicious lunch and rested a bit before he headed to back north.  We didn't hit too crazy of weather until we got to Sardine Canyon coming into Logan.  There was a pretty bad accident.  We made it back safe and sound though, Thank Goodness!! Thanks family for having us down for the week.

Another Week Down

Here is my expanding belly at 25 weeks.  Not much new has happened except this baby is quite the kicker and stretcher.  I am pretty uncomfortable already, which I don't remember being like this with Sawyer until later weeks.  (Sometimes you just block bad things out though.) I am not really craving anything, however, I am loving fresh fruit which I have mentioned before.  I can't wait until watermelon season which should be after I have this baby but oh well.  I am not running anymore because if I were I would have to wear a Depends which I just can't justify doing.  We still go walking though which will hopefully help with the labor later on, it seemed like it did last time.

Like Father, Like Son

Sawyer loves to do everything that Travis does.  Travis received some fly fishing magazines a week or so ago.   Travis was excited to sit down and look at them on several occasions, little did he know, Sawyer was way more excited to look at all those fish and flies. He would steal it from Travis whenever he would look at it.
I seriously do not know where he got this love of fish but that is what he says more than any other word is "fish" or "big fish".  Travis was trying to read the magazine in the photos below but Sawyer would not have it unless he got to look at one of his own.

Sawyer loves smoothies and I love that he loves them.  They are packed with fresh fruits and then I know he is getting his daily quota of fruits.  I need to start maybe adding some vegetables to them too but I don't really know any good combinations, I have heard of these green smoothies but never tried one.  Sawyer loved this smoothie a little too much, as you can see by the smoothie down his front.
