What?

Sawyer got a hold of some stickers.  He thought they were pretty cool until both hands were covered and he couldn't get them off.  Okay I may have helped a little with sticking the stickers all over.  

Weekend Fun

Time sure has been flying lately.  Last week was full of a lot of fun experiences.  On Wednesday we had my cousin Lori Anne and her family over for dinner.  We decided to do dutch oven instead of try to go out with three little ones.  I am sure that Lori's girls are angels but my little guy is a little bit of a hand full sometimes.  It was fun visiting and eating.  Sorry no pictures.  

Friday night was had a date with our friends the Hollands, Tom and Sam.  We were going to go to the mountains and have a little cookout but decided it would be better to just cook at home.  Just because we didn't have a fire does not mean we couldn't enjoy the same food we were going to have though.  We made tin foil dinners and for dessert, S'mores treats.  It was fun talking and laughing with old friends.  We probably kept them out way too late, the same with Lori Anne and her family.  

The boys were sitting on the toy just fine but ask for a picture and Sawyer got a little distraught. 

 Saturday was completely devoted to football for Travis.  Well almost.  I got up and went running on an amazing trail here in Logan.  After I returned home though Travis informed me that last year a girl was attacked on this trail.  The girl got away but I was completely shocked that something like that would happen here in Logan.  We showered up (well I showered up, I didn't want to fumigate everybody) and headed to Travis' cousins for the USU v. Auburn game and the BYU v. Ole Miss game.  We were pretty upset about the Aggies loss.  It was a great game though.  BYU game, not so exciting until the last quarter.  

Monday we decided to have a little adventure and headed over to the Minnetonka Cave by Bear Lake.  We didn't really know what we were getting ourselves into.  Travis had gone fishing that morning so he asked if I could drive over.  I agreed but after driving about ten minutes in the canyon wish I didn't.  It is not that I don't like driving but there were so many people and they kept coming into my lane on the turns.  Hello people, I don't have anywhere besides this river on my side of me to go there isn't much a shoulder.  We made it in one piece though.  Although Travis informed me he thought I was driving too fast.  Silly Travis he was just dreaming we were racing. When we arrived at the cave we could not get into a tour for an hour and a half. We were starving so we headed down to Montpelier for some grub.  We got to see some beautiful country on the drive and a near miss of a lady who was taking a picture of the tabernacle in Paris, ID and decided she didn't need to watch for traffic.  We got back to the caves with a little time to spare.  We put on some warm clothes, the cave is 40 degrees.  For a Cache Valley person, I thought "eh 40 degrees that isn't too cold" , I was horribly mistaken. My toes were freezing, and my flimsy jacket was not very warm. The cave was pretty fun to walk through.  It had huge rooms and a lot of stairs.  Sawyer enjoyed it once he got out of his carrier.  He was really excited about all the rocks.  He kept wanting to hold the rocks and well of course eat them.  

Travis drove us safely home.  We decided to take advantage of our favorite snow cone shack before it closes for the season.  What a great week!    

Time Marches On

Monday marked the first official day of Travis starting his Masters Degree in Engineering.  We are in the home stretch people, I can officially see an end in sight (Is anybody else jumping for joy with me?) which is awesome but sad at the same time.   I have really enjoyed our time here in Logan.  This town is like a small town but with everything you need.  We have an awesome University to bring us a little culture, we have just about any store you would possibly ever need- except Target which is a little disappointing- but we have 2 Wal-Marts to make up for it.  We have tons of restaurants, and bowling alleys, movie theaters, running trails, a temple, the list goes on an on and on.  I am really going to miss the town when and if we have to move.
Well, on to the point of this blog post.  Monday Travis called me and told me he needed me to bring him a check.  I thought okay but how do you suppose I get it to you since you have the car.  He said judging by the time I had probably not gone running and I should walk to campus instead.  If anybody has been to my house you know that campus is just a small little dot you can see from my house.  It seemed miles and miles away but I have always wanted to walk there to see how long it would take me.
I loaded Sawyer in the jogging stroller, grabbed some water, and headed up to campus.  It took us about an hour.  I don't really know how far it is for sure but I do know it is farther than 4.5 miles.  When I got to campus, for the first time, I felt so out of place.  I was dressed in my workout clothes, while everybody around me was dressed in their "first day of school outfits".  I was pushing a stroller, and I realized I am OLD.  Well, not really just a lot older than all those college freshmen.  I have been in the college mode for so long and always thought of myself as around college age, but I quickly realized I am not such a young 'um anymore.  I can not believe that the incoming freshmen were born in like 1992 or 1993. Crazy, I was already in elementary school.
Travis met us for lunch at the TSC. We had a great time and indulged in some good food. Sawyer enjoyed showing off for all those who would watch him.  Luckily, Travis let us take the car home so we didn't have to walk again, not that it would have been bad going home, it would have been all downhill.  I hope we don't take this year last year in Logan for granted and live it to the fullest.

Is this a good activity?

I was reminded of my favorite comedian, Brian Reagan and his skit about the Sun Stare, on Saturday when the Elders Quorum of our Ward planned an activity.  In the morning they did service, "a very good activity".  In the afternoon they had a BBQ and a 10 ft x 100 ft Slip N' Slide, "the questionable activity".  We had a lot of good laughs.  The kids really enjoyed the slide but didn't get very far on their own.  Hence, the use of the water balloon launcher to launch people down the slide.  It made the ride so much smoother and a lot faster.  The "Men" of the ward all did a train, I guess you could call it one right after another going down the slide.  They were hilarious to watch.  I know they all have a few bumps and bruises from the slide though.  Apparently, we aren't as young as we all think we are.  All in all though we all had a great time.

Sawyer was our official hose holder.  He would not leave the hose alone.  Good thing he only really squirted himself.  He would look around like "Who just did that?"

Yep, even us adults used the water balloon launcher.  I was awful when I tried to run and slide by myself.  I am a little bit of a chicken.  The first time I went I was laughing and screaming.  I forgot to close my mouth.  Always close your mouth!!! I got a mouth full of grassy, soapy water. 

We decided to re-purpose the kiddie pool.  It actually did much better than we all expected.

Arachnophobia

The other morning when Travis was putting out the garbage he noticed the first creepy crawler on the side of our house.  EWWWW!!! I probably would have fainted had I discovered it first.  Seriously, I was getting nauseous when we were trying to catch it.  Travis was so bold as to try to have me hold the bottle while he used to lid to scoop it in.  "Are you crazy?!" were my exact words I believe.  We wanted to identify the spider.  Apparently, it is a female Hobo spider.  This other spider was found inside our house.  This is after Travis sprayed outside and inside our house.  I think we need another round of spray.  I wouldn't want Sawyer finding one of these "little" friends.  By the way these photos don't do justice to how big these spiders actually are.  YUCK!!!! 

County Fair

"No rest for the weary" is the slogan from this past week.  We started off with my parents coming and visiting. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the activities we did.  We had a lot of fun though, fishing, miniature golfing, shopping, cooking, and they watched Sawyer for us while we went to our friends wedding.  Just a side note, I beat both Dan and my mom in mini-golf and they golf all the time.  Somebody needs to work on their short game. hahaha.  To conclude their visit we went out to Clarkston to watch the Martin Harris Pageant on Thursday.  It was a really good production.

We couldn't just laze about this weekend there was too much going on.  We started Friday night off with going out on the town as a family.  Saturday I started the day off by going on a great morning run.  When I got home we all jumped in the car and headed off to hit some yard sales.  Travis had to work a bit so Sawyer and I hit up the local farmers market.  I am so happy I live in an area that has a Farmers Market.  We picked up some squash and zucchini since our plants died.  We also got some of my favorite little potatoes perfect for cream sauce and cheese.  They were Golden Yukon, Red and Purple potatoes.  I was so excited to make Sunday dinner. 

The Cache County fair was this past weekend as well.  I don't know what it is about a county fair but I just love them.  The interesting people, the food, the excitement, the activities, the exhibits- mainly the people.  I love to people watch.  We went in the afternoon but came home for a bit to rest up for the big PRCA Rodeo later that night. Sawyer was such a good little guy during the rodeo.  We didn't have to take him out once.  It has been a while since we have been to a rodeo.  We had great time and really enjoyed getting out as a family.

Lovin' Summertime

Wow, we have been busy lately.  We wanted to take advantage of our Pass of All Passes again at Seven Peaks Salt Lake so on the way down to Candace's wedding we hit up the water park.  Sawyer did much better this time around.  Travis and I decided we needed to rent a tube and experience the park to its fullest.  I have decided after this experience though water slides are enjoyed much better with a companion on the tube with you.  Being a lone rider isn't all it is cracked up to be.  The slides were a lot of fun and the lines weren't ever very long which was a huge plus.  Sawyer kept making friends everywhere he went.  Sawyer fell asleep in the lazy river this time instead of the wave pool. Silly boy.

I went to change first and this is what I came back to. 

I didn't  get any pictures of Candace and Jeremy's wedding but is was a lot of fun on Aug. 6.  I headed down to St. George, yet again, for another hot wedding.  Actually the weather wasn't as stifling as I remember St. George being. If the weather was like it was on that Saturday I would actually consider living there.  St. George really is a beautiful area. There were so many people to the wedding. It was so much fun getting together with family again.  

Sunday we headed down to Minersville for church.  It was such a hot day, can you tell by the pictures of Sawyers cheeks?  We played in the shade for awhile with Travis' cousins and their nieces and nephews.  Sawyer loves to swing.  Later that afternoon was Sunday dinner with the Yardley's.  I love that tradition. Once a month all the Yardley's in Beaver get together for family dinner.  As a child it was blast, and it hasn't changed much.  It was an exceptionally large dinner with all the wedding guests. We ate, talked, and laughed til our hearts were content.

We made it home late that night.  We were all exhausted.  It has been a crazy busy summer but we wouldn't have it any other way.
